The following Eligibility Requirements will apply for all benefits:

(A) Union Affiliation: The Participant must be:

1. be a Union member eligible for employment through the Union;


2. an Applicant eligible for employment through the Union; or


3. a Candidate who will become an applicant/member of the Union.

(B) Initial eligibility is achieved by:

1. Being an Employee onboard a vessel of an Employer making man-day contributions and have acquired a minimum of ninety (90) days of onboard employment within the twelve (12) months preceding the arrival at STAR Center or the start date of benefit under this Plan;


2. or inland waters Employees, being in a regular rotation for ninety (90) days and be employed on the 90th day; or


3. being a Candidate nominated by the American Maritime Officers Joint Employment Committee and approved for training by the Plan; or


4. being a Pensioner who has been approved to return to work under Covered Employment under the American Maritime Officers Pension Plan and nominated by the American Maritime Officers Joint Employment Committee and approved for training by the Plan.
